Upon entry into Circo for the Soho International Film Festival Awards Night Gala, I went to the VIP section where Ashley-Lauren Elrod was seated watching the stage from afar. The room was filled with high energy and joy as everyone was focused on the stage while actors, producers, directors, and writers were being awarded as they were compared to their peers who took part in the Soho International Film Festival.
There are moments that help me learn that I’ve truly grown. After eating, the waiter came to clear the table then spilled what she cleared from the table on my lap. My dress & hair had corn & whatever else we were eating. I thought to myself, “wow i haven’t even taken pictures yet and I already look a mess.” I wasn’t angry about it. I just wish it didn’t happen. God has been molding me and working on my heart. Oyinkan a few years ago would have been upset. I thank God for changing my heart & helping me see more good in people, which leads me to be slow to anger. It was an honest mistake by the very apologetic waiter. She was so flustered that she didn’t think to get me napkins right away. Although I had to keep asking for napkins, I’m sure her heart was in the right place. I cleaned myself up and hoped the stains won’t show on my pink Nicole Miller dress and it didn’t.
I ended up meeting Lou Diamond Phillips, who is an actor known for his roles in La Bamba, Stand and Deliver, and Longmire to name a few.
Nothing like carrying on through the evening & having a great time as participants were being awarded.
