Are you getting in your own way? I recently decided to get out of my way and it has elevated my life. The things that would have stopped me in my tracks no longer matter because I decided that I can’t keep getting in my way. If you’re not new to Befitting Style, then you know personal appearance is very important to me. My amazing mum raised me to always look my best. A couple of weeks ago, while being out and about, my Zara crop top ripped. If this happened 2 years ago, it would have really bothered me and may have stopped me in my tracks but I decided to proceed with my day. I can’t fix the mishap so why dwell on it? I carried on and attended the Creator Economy NYC panel and mixer anyway then went to dinner afterward.
My love for being around like-minded people makes attending creator economy events so enjoyable. For Creator Economy NYC’s mixer and panel featuring Head of Content at Kickstarter, Brandon Smithwrick, Teachable’s Creator Partnerships Manager, Olivia Owens and Content Creator, Dara Denney, I threw on a red crop top with a white sheer button-down top underneath and a red midi skirt. The panel was moderated by Brett Dashevsky who has been successfully bringing together creator economy professionals for almost 2 years.
The panel discussed elevating from a part-time creator to a full-time creator. Olivia shared that being a creator today gives you the opportunity to finance the life you wish. Money gives you options. Teachable has a 9-5 quitters club that encourages creatives to be so persistent with their craft, that their success will lead them to quit their 9-5 and replace it with being a full-time creator. Some people have so many amazing ideas but are too scared to share them publicly. Brandon has greatly benefitted from putting his ideas out there. Some of his job opportunities derived from his investment in his personal brand.
Dara proceeded to share her various sources of income that lets her live comfortably as a full-time creator. When creating streams of income, think of the services you can offer digitally and if you’re able to create physical products, do so. Since the pandemic, it seems like society craves in-person connections so don’t shy away from curating irl experiences and products. What if social media disappeared tomorrow? Its important that you own your audience by building strategies to collect their emails. Email marketing will always be a safe way of reaching your audience because it can never be taken away from you. While creating for your community, focus on nurturing your audience while creating content that draws a new audience.
There are so many creatives in this world but a lot of them are getting in their own way by letting stumbling blocks keep them from going forward and using the gifts God gave them. Whether it’s a tear in your shirt or something else that could be frustrating, never let anything stop you in your tracks to derive you from your plans. No matter what, carry-on beautifully.

First of all, you look beautiful, those reds complement each other top to bottom. Almighty God is our Creator, he created us and we his children emulate that from him. Thank you Lord.
