What do you wear to a graduation when you’re not the one graduating? As a graduation guest, it’s important that you put your best foot forward. I find that graduation guests keep it casual as many opt for denim and t-shirts but I’ve always believed that graduations are an important affair. It’s not every day that your loved one gets a degree so put the t-shirts and jeans to the side, grab a dress, and show up like you care. I believe the more important the event, the greater the reason for you to get dressed. Because dressing well is a form of good manners, it’s important to put together an attire that showcases how much you care about the occasion. Dress like it matters. Usual attire shouldn’t be worn to unusual activities.
My best friend Marllory graduated with her Master’s Degree in Social Work! I threw on a floral midi dress to head to Hunter College and obnoxiously screamed her name as she walked across the stage.
I wore a floral midi dress that’s an oldie but goodie. When I purchased it from Zara a few years ago, I was so in love with it that I thought I would wear it right away but I actually forgot about it. This graduation was the perfect occasion!
Not only did Marllory graduate but she got to walk the stage with her sister, Maoly who was also receiving the same Master’s Degree!
Words can’t explain how proud I am of these 2 ladies! Time flies so fast! I’ve known Maoly since she was in kindergarten and now she’s an adult with a Master’s Degree! Not only is she well educated, but she’s also a beautiful human with a big heart and a sincere soul.
Their passion for mental health led them on this path and I’m so excited for them to become therapists!
