Louis Vuitton is venturing into makeup and Pat McGrath has been named the Creative Director for the French house’s extension, La Beauté Louis Vuitton. As a top makeup artist with over 20 years of working backstage at the Louis Vuitton shows, McGrath is not new to the world of beauty. With decades of experience in beauty and being raised by a mother who ignited her love for fashion since the age of 5, this is a natural next step for the beauty mogul.
Louis Vuitton is no stranger some methods of beauty as they have provided perfumes for years but makeup is a whole new world.
Why She Was Chosen
Some may be wondering why Pat McGrath would lead as a Creative Director for a high-end brand when her beauty brand, Pat McGrath Labs is also a sort after high-end makeup brand that has graced the cover of vogue many times and her work for the Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2024 couture show crowned her as the queen of glass skin. Will there be conflicts of interest? Absolutely not! Their different styles keep them from clashing. Pat McGrath Labs is known for their shimmers, iridescent eye shadows and highlighters. Louis Vuitton goes for a more natural and subtle makeup look.

What I Expect
Because McGrath isn’t new to working with Louis Vuitton, this new role will lead to more collaboration beyond fashion week. McGrath will lead the charge for the makeup that is produced for La Beauté Louis Vuitton. I’m also expecting a very diverse range of products that caters to the darkest hue, lightest skin, and the shades in between. Her Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation features 36 shades with 20 of those shades suitable for brown and dark skin tones. I’m not expecting a diverse range to be an issue with La Beauté Louis Vuitton’s complexion products.
Louis Vuitton investing more into beauty comes at no surprise as their counterparts have fully dived into beauty for years. Since 1978, Yves Saint Laurent releases new makeup palettes every fashion season. Prada has extended into makeup and skincare since 2000. It’s only right that Louis Vuitton expands their horizons and choose Pat McGrath to take the lead.
