Brunch at Agenda Astoria For Marllory’s Birthday

I recently celebrated my best friend, Marllory’s birthday with brunch at Agenda in Astoria, New York. While I’m used to raving about my brunch experiences (because brunch is life), I wasn’t completely impressed by this particular experience.

Upon entry, I was seated at the table of 20 next to Marllory’s sister, Maoly whom I love so much! Once Marllory arrived, we were able to order drinks.

We all indulged in the bottomless brunch menu that included unlimited mimosas with a meal. I ordered my favorite brunch meal – eggs benedict with well-done poached eggs while half of the table ordered tres golpes.

The mimosa was the only great experience at Agenda. Here are my not-so-great experiences:

  1. The food took over an hour to be served to us. Since our entrees seemed cumbersome for the staff, I refrained from ordering an appetizer in order to decrease the workload of the kitchen staff so we asked for bread for the table.
  2. The bread took too long. I had to ask several waiters about the bread and after looking at me with confusion in their eyes, I realized that serving bread to guests is not the norm at their establishment. They assured me that they’ll figure it out. I’m not sure what needs to be figured out for something as simple as bread, but we waited patiently, which then became impatient because we were famished. Bread should not take about 30 minutes to be served when the entree is taking such an enormous amount of time but it did. I was shocked. The waiters presented slices of toasted bread (1 per person) at the table.
  3. The eggs benedict does not include an english muffin. I’ve had eggs benedict in plenty of restaurants as it’s my go-to brunch meal, yet I’ve never been served eggs benedict without an english muffin. It was so disappointing. My plate included well-done poached eggs, potatoes, and hollandaise sauce. Meat lovers can enjoy the meal with sausage but my no-meat eating regimen kept me from including the sausage. Because I waited so long to be fed, I was hungrier than usual so I ordered french fries which was the best thing I had at Agency.

As a lover of eggs benedicts, it is so disappointing to experience such lack-luster eggs benedict. Marllory was enjoying her drinks as well as the rest of the table so we stayed a while.

I wore a Nichole Lynel 2-piece set that featured a floral maxi skirt and an off-the-shoulder crop top.

Regardless of the experience at Agenda, I was happy to celebrate Marllory’s birthday, thanking God for her life. I don’t take our 24 years of friendship for granted as she’s been such a blessing in my life. Marllory also happens to be my favorite friend to brunch with.

The lack-luster brunch meal did not steal our joy. We laughed, talked, and loved on one another as Maoly surprised Marllory with a cake.

What’s your favorite restaurant to enjoy eggs benedict?

My favorite restaurant to enjoy egg Benedict is in Miami. It’s not my go for food every time, I have to be in the mood to eat eggs. Love Mallory and your dress, both flows at the bottom. Happy birthday to Mallory “the new mom” , God bless her and her new family.
Nice to note that restaurant as a no go for whatever reason or any occasion. Thanks Oyin
