Happy Fashion Week! Every season, I try to organize my looks prior to the week as Fashion Week tends to get hectic. I didn’t get a chance to do that this week. Unsure of what to wear, I ended up making an ankara dress the night before Day 1. I figured I’ll worry about the rest of the looks later on. This was a much easier dress to make as its way less complicated than the wrap dress that I recently made.
I love to create because there is freedom within it. I believe I can create anything I want. If there is something that I envision, my immediate thought is to create it.
The idea for this dress evolved while I was creating the ankara dress that I wore to a wedding last month.
I was able to view the Micheael Costello show, Desigual and HFR on Day 1.
As it is my second time creating a dress, it’s my first time applying buttons on a dress that I’m creating. My concern was creating the button hole much bigger than required, which would have given me more work (unnecessary) than needed. I love the way the dress turned out. What I love most is the loose fit. I tend to love loose fitted clothing and creating a piece that possess that quality suits me just right.
I accessorized with an Aldo pastel green and taupe bag as well as an Express printed heel.
Finished off the look with gold accessories.
How did you begin Fashion Week?
Who knows, you might in the end have your own clothing line. Each time you decide to design what you will wear, you always end up getting better. Micheal Costello’s evening dresses are immaculate, out of this world. I honestly love every piece. I wish I can own them all. God bless you Oyin. Amen
