Going against the grain can be scary for many as we live in a world where most seek the approval of others for their actions. The Chromat FW17 show proved that staying true to yourself always wins. The average woman is not a size 2 or 4. Let’s face it. I love when designers choose to showcase their pieces on models of different sizes. It’s much more relatable, making the average woman feel as though the pieces are made with her in mind. Women who are a size 8 or 10 are not your average models but they are definitely closer to the size of the average woman in America.
Keeping it grunge, lip and nose piercings paired with jackets and lifesafers were worn the unconventional way.
Chiffon was incorporated into the pieces by attaching it to caps and dresses.
Plus size models confidently walked down the runway without missing a beat! The pieces confidently complimented their curves instead of solely focusing on hiding it (which is what a lot plus size attire tends to do). When most shows seek to showcase diversity, they usually end up incorporating a few more black models than the norm. Chromat decided to show diversity in size and I absolutely love it.
